What are commitment and motivation?

Commitment is a positive state of the employee towards their work and company. It manifests through their involvement, enthusiasm and the efforts they deploy to achieve the organisation's objectives. Motivation, on the other hand, is what drives us to act. It's the force that makes us get up in the morning to go to work, exercise, or go on holiday. It appears when we want to satisfy a need or achieve a specific goal.

These two concepts are linked, but whilst an employee's commitment is considered rather stable over time, motivation is tied to a specific action and will therefore fluctuate much more.

That's why it's necessary to combine motivation and commitment so that the employee feels invested both in the long term and in their daily life. Find out in this eBook the factors that influence these two key sentiments!
